Yallakool nestles right on the banks of the
Bjelke Petersen Dam in
the middle of natural Australian bushland. It's won a prestigious
Fraser
Coast South Burnett Tourism Award - and it's a winner with the 55,000+
visitors who flock to it all year round as well!
You can enjoy all types of water sports at Yallakool and the fishing is also
renowned. Some of the most popular catches are Golden Perch or Yellow Belly.
Yallakool's annual Monster Easter Markets (every Easter), Inland
Fishing Classic (in October) and Golden Lure Championships (in
November) also draw thousands of visitors each year

of accommodation - anything from camping sites through to self-contained
villas.
Yallakool is situated in the middle of native bushland - and as you continue
along the road beside the Park, the vast expanse of the enormous Bjelke-Petersen
Dam opens out before you.
On most days, the only sounds you will hear are those of people enjoying
themselves or the calls of the wildlife.
On the dam itself, you'll commonly find black swans, ducks,
pelicans and cormorants. Koalas, wallabies and
kangaroos are also regular visitors to the water and the fringes of
the park area too.

The Bjelke-Petersen Dam and its lake are renowned as one of the best inland
fishing waterways in Queensland.
You can bring your own tent and pitch it in the camping grounds, bring your
own caravan and park it on a powered or unpowered site, or book one of the
self-contained villas.

priced accommodation and come complete with all amenities. Most also have
sweeping water views!
However, if your cook is having a holiday, you can make use of the Dining
Room or have takeaway or catered meals.
Yallakool's new Camp Kitchen (located beside the pool and tennis courts)
is another perfect place to relax. It's very well equipped and provides an
area for camp oven cooking as well as a refrigerator, hotplates, oven and
microwave. Get catered for or do the cooking yourself? It's up to you!

Lake Barambah.
Want to go
fishing? You can fish from the dam edges but to get to
the big ones, a boat is much better. You can
hire boats (no licence
required) and there are numerous ramps to launch from.
If you have your own equipment, you can also water ski or sail. There is
an inground swimming pool adjacent to the tennis courts and adequate
sheltered swimming areas are also provided for all the family.
And if you want to get out of the water, there's tennis courts available
for hire and the surrounding bushland is accessible to walkers and bird watchers
if you want to just go for a walk.
You can also inspect local art (including a great array of indigenous art)
at the Barambah Valley Store located at the entrance to Yallakool.
Or visit any of several wineries in the local area, as well as all
of the other tourist attractions of Murgon Shire.

the year, and most especially in the summertime.
